Welcome to Aptana. My name is Michelle, and I'm going to be demonstrating how
to create a site connection between a folder or a project on your local hard drive
in Aptana, and between a remote FTP site.
Now to start off, the first way I'm going to show you how to use this is by using
this sync manager. I'm going to right click the connection that I want to use. Now
in a previous video, I demonstrated how to set up these FTP sites. The remote site
that I'm going to use is a folder called "foo" on the turboflix.com site.
So I'm going to right click this and choose "as site connection". I could also
click the same button up here. And for connection name, I'm going to call it
"sorted tables". The path, I'm going to use a project, click browse, I've got
my project here, table sorter, click OK, and under remote I'm going to fill out
the site that I'm going to connect to. I'm going to choose "turboflix/foo".
Now I could also create a new project shortcut if I was going to synchronize
between projects, which I don't think you would need to do very often, or I could
create a new SFTP or FTP site directly from this dialogue. I'm going to choose
turboflix/foo, and click OK.
My new connection is now showing up in the sync manager. I can right click this,
and click synchronize, and actually go through the synchronization process. I'm going
to show that in another video though.
Now another way that I can create a connection is I can create a connection in the
file view. So I'm going to create a connection to a folder that's on my hard drive in
my My Documents folder. So I'll expand My Documents, I've got my folder here "aSite"
that I'm going to use, I will right click that, come down here to synchronize, and
choose "create new synchronize connection".
It names my connection for me when I go about creating a site connection this way,
going to call it "aSite", the path is in my file it would be where it says file here
instead of project, and browse. You can see that it's going to connect to this "aSite"
folder that I created. Now into remote, I can just choose my FTP site. And I'll go
ahead and choose that turboflix/foo again, and I will click OK.
And now you can see that these little arrows show that a connection has been set
up between this folder and a remote site. So now that this connection's set up, I
can go about doing any of my file transfers, any one of a number of ways. And I'm
going to demonstrate that in another video for you. Thank you.
